Your Care Pathway: The "Lausanne Week"
Elite expertise, precise diagnosis, lasting relief.
To support our patients traveling from across Switzerland and abroad, we have developed the Lausanne Week. This exclusive outpatient protocol is designed to maximize clinical outcomes while respecting your time and travel constraints.
Under the leadership of Dr. Pietramaggiori and Dr. Scherer, world-renowned pioneers in the surgical management of headaches, you will follow an ultra-specialized four-step pathway to treat your migraines or Arnold’s neuralgia (occipital neuralgia).
A Comprehensive 4-Step Program
Our methodology is built on total personalization. Every day is a crucial milestone toward your recovery:
Day 1: Expertise and Specialized Consultation
Your journey begins with an in-depth meeting with Dr. Pietramaggiori or Dr. Scherer. During this initial consultation, we analyze your medical history, map your pain zones, and establish a rigorous clinical assessment.
Day 2: High-Tech Diagnostics and Confirmation
Precision is the key to success. We perform a high-resolution ultrasound examination to visualize the nerves and structures involved. If necessary, a diagnostic block (infiltration) is performed: this confirms with certainty the exact origin of your pain and validates the surgical treatment plan.
Day 3: Minimally Invasive Surgical Treatment
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis. Using advanced minimally invasive techniques, we act directly on the physical cause of your pain (nerve decompression). This approach significantly reduces recovery time while targeting maximum effectiveness.
Day 4: Post-Operative Check-up and Recovery Plan
The day after the procedure, a follow-up visit ensures proper healing and provides you with all necessary post-operative recommendations. You will leave with a clear recovery plan and the peace of mind that comes from being treated by global experts.

Discover Lausanne
Lausanne is a small Swiss town on Lake Leman. The city is the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (the Olympic Museum is worth a visit during your link trip).
The town extends vertically from the lake towards the heights of Lausanne. The lake offers an infinite number of walks from the Metro M2 terminus station “Ouchy”.
From the clinic, you can visit the heart of the city in just 5 minutes. The Gothic Cathedral, built between the 12th and 13th centuries, is one of the city’s most visited historical landmarks. At special times of the year, it is possible to enter the cathedral by night and visit the summit, home to the watchman who shouts out the hours from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., 365 days a year. This “guardian of the city of Lausanne” has been a tradition for over 600 years. The night view from the top of the cathedral is breathtaking.
Downtown Lausanne is bustling with activity, home to bows, stores and restaurants to suit all tastes, yet remains a quiet, human-scale city that can be explored on foot.
